LICENSING INFORMATION

General Lines Property & Casualty License

A General Lines Property & Casualty license may be issued to individuals who:

  • are at least 18 years of age
  • are active in the business of selling insurance to the public
  • and are sponsored by a qualified insurer or another General Lines P&C agent

The procedure for obtaining the license is as follows

  • Register for the state exam with Pearson VUE/Data Stream Technologies, contracted licensing center, and pay the appropriate exam fee.  Register online or call 888-325-6580
  • Register for fingerprinting by calling Morpho Trust at 888-467-2080 or register online
  • Receive a passing score on the state exam before proceeding with application to the State of Texas.  Applicants have 12 months from the date of the first exam taken to obtain a passing score.
  • Once a passing score has been obtained complete the license application and submit with exam result and finger printing to the Texas Department of Insurance.

  • Have a valid appointment with an insurer or general lines agent that the applicant will represent.
